Purple Sandpipers in Shetland

Good selection of waders down in the south mainland and after a careful approach managed to get close up

Purple Sandpipers are one of my favourite birds and they are just coming into breeding plumage

Despite the northerly cold wind we are starting to get a few migrants, the best this last few days have been White Tailed Eagles, Eastern Sub-Alpine Warbler, Male Hooded Merganser, Red Creasted Pochard but either on Foula or again up north
