Rare birds continue in Shetland

Is has been a good few days in Shetland apart from the weather yesterday, although it did bring in around 60+ Chaffinch

A lot of those Chaffinch were still present this morning, a flock of 20+ near the quarries then another 6 at Sumburgh Head with a Redstart

Still present after 3 days was the Greenish Warbler working away along the Sycamore bushes and came out briefly onto the steps in the garden

It spent a minute here before flying over and heading east

After seen a Little Stint briefly down at Grutness Pool this one dropped in with a couple of Dunlin

After a short feed and preen it flew off strongly towards Virkie where two had been reported

I also saw the Whin-start, this time in the paddock at Grutness, that's four out of the last five days

Two King Eider have now been reported, one in Burra and the other near Girlsta, both distant. A Great White Egret has just been reported at Walls and a few Red Breasted Flycatcher remain in the  south mainland
