It was good to hear of a few waders migrating to Shetland over the past week. Up to 189 Black Tailed Godwit down at Toab.
But i went for this Juvenile Little Stint down at Moast beach at Scatness.
It was difficult to find first off, as it kept feeding among the rocks and seaweed, so just out of sight
It then got spooked and flew off with the Sanderling/Dunlin wader flock and came to rest down on the small beach
It seems to be a good beach for Little Stints having seen a few here before, its more difficult to get close as you are approaching from high up so easily seen
Happy with my first real migrant, although saw 12 Greenland Wheatear yesterday
At the same time this was seen a Pectoral Sandpiper was found at Spiggie but when it was flushed it flew south along the loch, a big place to search
