Shetland Swifts

Migration has started and Blackbirds are a good indicator.  I was checking Sumburgh Head for migrants

The Barred Warbler seen the day before had gone but in its place was at least 14 Blackbirds

One then two Swift appeared on the east side, an uncommon bird here. They spent at least an hour hawking around

As usual they were zooming round but a good challenge and at least the light was good

It is always interesting to find a ringed bird especially a common bird like this House Sparrow
Normally people are interested in rare birds, so to find this bird at Sumburgh Hotel was interesting

This bird was tracked down to being ringed a short distance away at Toab , just up the road
