Shetland Little gull

 A still days for once so down to Sandsayre to check whether the Little Gull was still present.

It soon appeared and landed on the sea close by

I wanted some flight shots but it was overcast so shooting at between ISO8000 and ISO10600

These have cleaned up nicely with DXO 

The Black Redstart was still present but very mobile spending time in the gardens as well as down on the beach

A male Goldeneye came into the Voe and an Otter seen in the surf moving quickly away from me. All these photos were taken on a Olympus OM1-2 and 150-400mm

Shetland red Necked Phalaropes

Good to find out that Red Necked Phalaropes seem to have had another good breeding season in Shetland

It will only be a matter of time before they head down to Peru, a long journey for such a little wader

                                         Seems a long time ago there was only 9 pairs breeding

Shetland Common Crane

 Found this crane at Quendale, apparently the earliest record for Shetland. At first it was quiet close but eventually moved further away after 10 mins

This must have been the one seen flying over Fair Isle the day before

Quendale seems to be a regular place for Cranes although i dont see any last year

This will be off to Scandinavia soon
